Driving to Aomori City - Route A

If you live on base, this is probably the most efficient route.
If you live south of the base like in Shimoda, Oirase Cho or Rokunohe, Route B (below) may be more efficient.

Route A
1. Exit the base from the main gate and turn right at the second traffic light (City Hall intersection).
2. At the fourth traffic light, turn right again.
3. Go straight through the first traffic light (across Main Street).
4. This is route 8. Follow it for 17.4 KM. Then turn left at the traffic light onto Route 394 and go over the bridge.
5. At .3 (three-tenths) of a KM turn right and go over another bridge.
6. Continue straight (on a winding road) for about 2 KM where you will come to the intersection with Route 4.
7. Go straight across Route 4 and you are on the Michinoku Toll Road.
8. After about 20KM, you will come to a rest area on the left and a toll gate.
9. Pay the ¥830 (at the time of this writing) and proceed for about another 10KM to a "T" intersection with a traffic light.

You are now on the outskirts of Aomori City. Continue with the below instructions to get to your destination

Route B
1. Proceed to the Shimoda intersection with the Michinoku #2 bypass. This is the tollroad that goes to Hachinohe.
2. The road has been extended north almost to Kamikita and, for now, its free.
3. Take the on-ramp and when the road forks, stay right. At the T, turn right.
4. The road ends at the Kamikita exit. Take the exit and at the end of the ramp, turn right. Follow this winding road for 7.4 KM where you will make a right turn.
5. After about 200 meters, you will pick up Rt. 8. There is a Lawsons at the intersection.
6. Turn left onto route 8. Follow it for 17.4 KM. Then turn left at the traffic light onto Route 394 and go over the bridge.
7. At .3 (three-tenths) of a KM turn right and go over another bridge.
8. Continue straight (on a winding road) for about 2 KM where you will come to the intersection with Route 4.
9. Go straight across Route 4 and you are on the Michinoku Toll Road.
10. After about 20KM, you will come to a rest area on the left and a toll gate.
11. Pay the ¥830 (at the time of this writing) and proceed for about another 10KM to a "T" intersection with a traffic light.

You are now on the outskirts of Aomori City. Continue with the below instructions to get to your destination

Aomori Skating Rink

• Turn left at the T intersection drive straight down Route 44 for 9.6 KM. (You will pass the Big Buhhda on the left.)
• This brings you to Route 103. Turn right onto 103.
• After 2.2 KM, turn left at the traffic light onto Route 7.
• Proceed about 800 meters (second traffic light) and turn rifht. The Rink will be on your left.
