There are two ways to get get to places in Iwate Prefecture. You can use Route 45 and take the scenic coastal road or you can go down the Hachinohe Expressway to the Tohoku Expressway. These instructions take you via Route 45. You would normally use this route to get to the Ryusendo Caves, the Fudai and other points on the coast.
Exit the base from the POL gate and proceed straight about 3 KM until you reach the Momoishi Toll road. It is the first overpass you will come to.
Turn left at the traffic light just prior to the overpass and you are on the entrance ramp to the toll road
You will pass through the Shimoda Toll Gate (¥150) and continue on to the Hachinohe Kita exit. (Second exit past the toll booth)
Exit at Hachinohe Kita (¥200) and follow the exit ramp to the traffic light.
The cross street is Route 45.
Turn right onto Route 45 and follow it through the city.
After about 6KM you will come to what appears to be a T intersection with a traffic light.
Turn right here. You are still on Route 45.
Follow 45 out the south end of Hachinohe, following the signs for KUJI and MIYAKO.
