MISAWA AIR SHOW
This year's Air Show will be held on Sunday, 18 October. There will be numerous aerial demonstrations with the highlights being performances by the Japan Air Self Defense Force’s "Blue Impulse" precision aerial demonstration team and the USAF Thunderbirds.
Of course there will be flyovers and demonstrations by many other aircraft, a rescue demonstration and parachuting as well as many aircraft on static display. The Air Force Band of the Pacific will also be on hand.
The main gate will be closed to vehicle traffic from 6am until the crowd is gone, probably around 4pm. The Levitow Gate will be open during this period. Food and game booths will line the parking aprons on the south side of the airfield and static displays of aircraft and equipment will be available.

Gate Status (This information is subject to change. I will try to keep it current.
- Main Gate will be open for pedestrian traffic only from 8:30AM - 4:15PM.
- The POL Gate and Levitow Gate are open for pedestrians and regular vehicle traffic.
- Security Hill and Beach Gates are open for vehicles from the general public.
- Officials ask that people living in the main base housing area and dorms walk to and from the air festival. North area housing residents should consider using the base shuttle serice.
- Bikes, skateboards, roller blades and scooters are forbidden in the festival area.
- Smoking is restricted to designated areas.
- Once the Air Show ends at 3PM, base officials need everyone, including vendors to vacate the ramp quickly so the base can prepare for normal flying operations.
- Security personnel will be conducting random checks of bags and vehicles. Thank you for your cooperation.
- Last year, the Air Show Shuttle Buses ran from 7AM to 5PM. Routes go from North Area Shoppette to the Falcon Gate and from the main gate to Bldg 948. I believe they run every 20 minutes but I have no firm info on that. I assume it will be the same this year but have not received official word on this.
