MISAWA EMPLOYMENT INFORMATION

There are numerous positions available here at Misawa for family members or active duty folks looking for off-duty employment. Bulletin boards with current positions available are maintained in the Post Office lobby and the Family Support Center (FSC). In addition, individual agencies maintain their own listings. Some listing are available on line and some are not. Due to the number of organizations on base offering jobs and the daily changing status of these positions, we would be unable to maintain a valid, up-to-date listing. We will however, give the basic information on each of the offices that provide positions and give you contact information.

The Home Business process has been simplified. Simply go to the Housing Office and they will give you all the info you need.

FEDERAL JOBS Civil Service jobs at Misawa are controlled and filled by the Civilian Personnel Office (CPO) which falls under the 35 Mission Support Squadron. Jobs offered in this category are reserved for US citizens. Position openings are posted at the FSC and Post Office and may be posted in the Base Bulletin. Applications should be submitted on the OF-612. While the old SF-171 is obsolete, some offices still accept it so don't throw yours away. Contact the CPO at 226-4621 or their Job Line at 226-2006. The FSC Resource Center has computerized programs that you can use to create or update your application/resume. Contact the FSC at 226-4735 for more info or to reserve computer time. CPO uses the Military Spouse Preference Program.

US ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS The Army Corps of Engineers office at Misawa has approzimately 14 civilian positions. Contact them at 226-4606.

Naval Air Facility This organization has about five civilian positions at Misawa in the clerical or secretarial fields. They also employ a Registered Nurse. Contact them at 226-4674.

AAFES The Army and Air Force Exchange Service is a Department of Defense non-appropriated fund instrumentality (NAF). Their Human Resource Office is the place to check on position openings. They can be reached at 226-6070/5162. Their Job Hotline is 226-7926. They offer a wide variety of positions ranging from Cashiers to Operations Clerks to Warehouse Workers. DOD EDUCATION ACTIVITY Most positions with DOD Dependent Schools are filled by folks hired within the system in the states however, they do, on occasion, have slots filled locally. Positions include teachers, substitute teachers, educational aids, nurses, secretaries, office automation, library media clerks and other various jobs. They handle their own hiring process through the Japan DODDS headquarters. Contact the individual school offices here at Misawa. Call 226-3933 for Sollars Elementary School, 226-2647 for Cummings Elementary School and 226-3351 for Edgren High School. 35 FORCE SUPPORT SQUADRON

35 SERVICES SQUADRON Non-Appropriated Funds (NAF) Dial 226-JOBS The NAF personnel office is located in bldg 656 and their phone number is 226-9281. They are the other major hiring organization at Misawa with regular openings in clerical, cashier, laborer, food service, etc, etc. The provide workers for the Clubs, Bowling Center, Libarary, Golf Course and all other NAF facilities around the base. You can also visit their web page at NAF also offers some contract jobs for positions such as sports officials, self-defense and gymnastics instructors, etc. You can get information on these types of positions from the Contracts Office at 226-3895/3496. NAF uses the Military Spouse Preference System.
