Exit the base through the POL Gate and set your odometer's trip counter to zero. Now just follow your nose for about 20 km along Rt 10. You will enter Towada City and come to a fork at a traffic light. There will be a blue sign overhead that shows Rt 10 continuing along the right fork and Towadashi with a train station symbol on the left. Take the left fork. After a couple hundred yards you will come to another fork and the Daiei Department Store on the left. Bear left and cross railroad tracks. There will be a train station on your right and a canal on your left. Continue straight a little further until you come to a traffic light at the intersection of Route 4. Turn left onto Rt 4.
Cross a bridge over the canal and proceed to the third traffic light. This will be the intersection with Route 102. There will be a sign showing Towadako and Oirase. Turn right onto 102 and drive for just about 16km. You will come to a fork in the road. The right hand fork will have a large arch across the road and announce the Yakeyama Hot Spring area. Bear right and go under the arch. Follow this road to the ski slope.

Regardless of where you live, you need to get on to route 10. This is the main road that starts at the POL gate and goes to Towada. As you are leaving Misawa you will go under the Michinoku Bypass. From this point you will travel about 11 or 12 kilometers until you come to another overpass. It is the only other overpass you will encounter on this road. This is the Route 4 bypass. Go under the overpass and immediately turn right onto the entrance ramp. At the top of the ramp, turn left onto the bypass.
After about 4km, the bypass will end at the actual Route 4. There is a McDonalds on the left. At this intersection, turn right and head north.
At 8.8 kilometers you will see a sign for the Shichinohe Bunka Mura. This is a roadside station and the new Shichinohe-Towada Shinkansen (Bullet Train). Turn left at this intersection.
You will drive past many large open fields and farm buildings. This is the National Livestock Breeding facility. You will also start to see signs for Rose Kingdon and the Shichinohe Ski Slopes. Just follow the sigs for a few kilometers. There is a left turn involved and a right fork near a small cemetary. From this fork, it's only a few hundred meters to the ski area.

Leave by the main gate and turn right at the second traffic light. Keep going straight past "30 Meter Road" and turn right at the next light (Green Pole Road)so you are actually heading back toward the base. Turn left at the first traffic light.
Continue on this road for about 18km. At a traffic light, you will see a blue sign for the Michinoku Toll Road. Turn left and continue across a long bridge and past a Pachinko Parlor on the left. About 250 yards further you will see another blue toll road sign. Turn right there and go over another bridge. Follow this road and you will come to a small, unused railroad track. Just a bit further, you will see a traffic light at the intersection with Route 4.
Continue straight across Rt 4 and you will be on the entrance to the expressway. There is one toll gate just past half-way. Pay the toll and continue until you come to a "T" intersection. Turn left at the "T" and you will come upon a fork in the road. Take the left fork and about 4km later you will approach another fork with a gas station on either side of the right fork. Take the LEFT fork.
Continue on for about 3.5km where you will see a beige and light blue building slightly back from the right side of the road. Pass this and about .5km later turn left.
About 4.5km later you will be able to see a large hotel atop a small hill. Continue past the parking lot at the base of this hill for about 1.5km further. You will come to some gates. If there is an attendant there, stop and fill out the info requested. If not, continue on thru the gates.
About 4.5km later you will come to a sign for the Towada/Hachimantai National Park. About 5.5 km past later you will find the entrance to the ski grounds.

Turn left on Rt 4 and proceed straight into Aomori City. After entering the downtown area, you will see signs in English for the "Tohoku Expressway". You will also see a building with a really large antenna on the roof. When you reach the proper intersection, this building will be on your left. Turn left and continue for about 3km (you will continue to see signs for the Expressway). Turn right at the intersection designated by the expressway sign. After another 4km, you will enter the expressway.
Follow the expressway until you see the exit for Kuroishi. Exit there and pay the toll. Follow route 102 into Hirosaki City until you reach a "T" intersection. Turn right and continue till you see the gardens for Hirosaki Castle.
At the castle gardens, turn left (the gardens will be on your right) and follow the castle border road. The gardens will end but keep going on this road.
After about 11km you will come to a large intersection with a gas station on the corner. Proceed straight through this intersection for another 1.25km and you will see a parking lot on the right for the hot baths. This will lead you to the slope after about 1.5km.

These instructions will get you on the Hachinohe Expressway heading south and will apply to all the locations listed below:
Leave by the POL Gate and continue past the 11th traffic light for a few hundred yards until you approach an overpass. Turn left just before the overpass and enter the Michinoku Bypass heading east toward Hachinohe. Just follow your nose to enter the Hachinohe Expressway and then the Tohoku Expressway.

Proceed on the Tohoku Expressway until you see the Morioka Exit (Route 46 for Shizukuishi, Tozawako and Akita). After aobut 6km on Rt 46 you will come to the Gosho Dam and lake on the left. Turn right a the intersection there.
Follow this road for about 21km to the Iwate Kogen Ski Slope. Continue past this for another 1km and you will come to a hot bat on the right. Turn right and the slope will be 1km futher along.

Proceed until you see the Morioka Exit Take Route 46 toward Tozawako and Akita for about 34.6km and you will come to the intersection of Route 341. Turn right onto 341 and proceed about 5km. At the 5km mark you will see a road on the right. Turn right and the slope is about 7km down this road.

Press on till you see signs for the Matsuo-Hachimantai exit. Take this exit and turn right after paying the toll. Continue to the next "T" intersections and turn left. You will go through a small town to an intersections with a traffic light and an commercial bus garage on the corner and then you will cross a river. Turn right at the intersections immediately after crossing the bridge. You should see a large tourist map along the side of the road.
Go up the hill and continue straight to a stop sign where you will see a blue sign to the Hachimantai Spas. Take a sharp left and you will then see a tall building which is the Hotel Royal on your left with white Aspen trees aloing the side of the road. Continue along about 1km until you come to a stop sign. Turn right to the slope and hotel complex.
