On 1 October 1992, the Misawa Cryptologic Operations Center was
formed from the four service components already assigned to Security
Hill. Col Mike McFarland served as the first MCOC director. One year
later, the 6920th Electronic Security Group was redesignated the 301st
Intelligence Squadron, under the command of Col Arthur Saitta. You can
see the guidon of the 301 IS, which was officially retired when the 692d
Intelligence Group was redesignated the 692d Intelligence Operations
Group.
